PBIS

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS)

PBIS is a school-wide system that teaches and models appropriate behaviors to the school community. It utilizes positive reinforcements before the use of consequences when dealing with discipline. The PBIS Team analyzes student data to make decisions both for the whole school and individual students. The ultimate goal of PBIS is to prevent problem behavior so that teaches can use the entire class time for instruction. At SMS, the PBIS program encourages the entire school from classroom to hallways to cafeteria to buses.

What is SOAR?

We strive to support all students and staff by teaching and promoting positive school-wide behavior. In order to do so, we have four expectations that are reinforced daily in all areas of the school to encourage our students to SOAR.

All students and staff need to know what SOAR means.

Show Respect
Ownership
A Positive Attitude
Ready to Learn

SOARbucks

Students who display behaviors that reflect respect towards themselves and others, ownership, a positive attitude, and come ready to learn on time with necessary materials will be acknowledged through SOARbucks.

SOARbucks are to be given to students by staff members and administration. The SOARbucks will be included in drawings for various prizes, SOAR Store, and other incentives and events throughout the year.
